In this exclusive studio workshop, together with Marcello — known from Het Perfecte Plaatje 2023 — we will dive deep into the world of creative storytelling and character portraits. Not standard snapshots, but powerful images that tell a story and reveal the soul of your model.

What to expect:

• Develop your visual signature as a portrait photographer by combining concept, light, and emotion.

• Work with unique styling props such as silk scarves, smoke, broken glass, and color filters to enhance atmosphere and story.

• Build strong character portraits that say more than a thousand words.

• Go home with concrete techniques and a creative workflow to immediately apply to your next shoot or paid assignment.

• Includes clipboard with tips & assignments, and a delicious lunch.

Topics & techniques:

• Storytelling in portrait photography: how do you build tension and meaning in a single image?

• Working with emotion, body language, and character

• Light patterns & ambient light (Rembrandt, butterfly, silhouette)

• Low key & high key lighting

• Use of color gels for dramatic effect

• Smoke, wind, and texture as visual reinforcing elements

• Creative framing, reflection, and alienation techniques
