Photography practical course: Outdoor Flashing at different locations.
Don't you want to stand out from other photographers with truly creative photos?
Why flash outdoors?
Anyone who knows me knows that I love flashes and flashing. And that I'm always looking for that amazing photo that was flashed but doesn't look like it was flashed.
That's why I often get asked: "When is the best time to flash?"
When my answer is "Stop flashing indoors and start flashing outdoors", I often hear back: "What kind of strange advice is that?".
We humans are very conditioned and like to stick to old principles: if it's dark indoors, the flash goes on, and outdoors there's enough light not to flash.
When I then ask if they are satisfied with their indoor flash photos, the answer is invariably: "NO, that's why I'm asking you for advice."
"And your outdoor photos then?", "Well, they could also be a lot better if I compare them to your photos!"
I also know exactly what the problems are:
Why does flashing look so unnatural?
Indoors in the dark, the flash has to emit a lot of light. The light reaches your subject but not the background, which results in white faces and a dark background. That's a typical flashed photo. That's why standard indoor flashing is not a good idea.
And outdoors, you get photos where the eyes are often dark, strange shadows appear on faces, and your subject blends into the background, not really standing out.
That's why flashing outdoors is a very good idea. Just look at the photo next to this. Left is not flashed and right is...
And did you know that the color temperature of your flash is the same as the color temperature on a sunny day?
That's for a reason!! Flashes are designed to be used outdoors on a sunny day.
In the distant past, however, someone decided that flashing in sunlight is very silly and flashing in the dark is very smart.
And even though we know we won't get beautiful photos this way, we still consider this to be the truth.
That's why I'm going to help you take better photos outdoors. And I'll also explain how to get better photos with flash indoors.
What can you expect?
We will go out with a group to take photos outdoors with flashes. With your regular speedlight. We will get the most out of your flash and take photos like you never have before. And if you don't have a flash? No problem, I'll bring flashes so you can participate fully.
And I'm sure you'll never use your flash the same way again.
Book now, a whole new world will open up for you
Minimum 4 and maximum 8 participants per workshop to guarantee personal attention.
What do you need?
Of course, bring your own camera. If you have a flash and possibly a trigger, you can certainly bring them, but it's not necessary. I will bring several flashes and triggers that you can use for free. So even if flashing is completely new to you and you don't have your own flash yet, you can still participate!
A tripod is not necessary. We start with your standard lens, but if you have a wide-angle and a telephoto lens, I would definitely bring them because they also give very cool effects and you will learn to work with them too.
What will I be able to do after the workshop?
After the workshop, you will have all the knowledge to consciously decide whether or not to flash in any situation you encounter. If you choose to flash, you will know how to optimally use your flash, what all the settings are, and more importantly: how to flash without it looking like a snapshot.
You can therefore turn the whole world into your photo studio.
Guarantee!
If, unexpectedly, the weather does not permit the workshop to go ahead, we will reschedule for a new date or you will get your money back. And even if you yourself cannot attend on the booked date for any reason, you can always take the workshop on a new date.
You will never lose your money, I personally guarantee that.
